Welcome Letters 2013
Ladies and gentlemen!
Dear participants of the International exhibition,
On behalf of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the Republic of Kazakhstan I am glad to welcome participants and guests of the 9th Central Asian International Exhibition on environmental protection technology, waste management, industrial water treatment and green innovations – EcoTech 2013.
In Kazakhstan, a concept for the transition to a “green economy” was approved at the national level by the Head of State.
We plan to implement the “green” development scenario to the main sectors of the economy, among which to be amended the most: water sector and agriculture; waste management and energy efficiency in the industry sectors; generation of electric and thermal energy.
The “green” modernization would require the attraction of joint public and private investments of up to 2 percent of GDP annually.
According to estimates by the Government, the economic return from the “green” modernization will be positive.
By year 2030, we will create from 400 to 600 thousand new jobs, and by year 2050 will have an additional three per cent increase in GDP against the growth, which is anticipated without transition to a new model of “green development”.
As is known, Kazakhstan's victory in the competition for the right to host the International specialized exhibition EXPO 2017 is a great success and at the same time a great responsibility of the country before the world.
Expo 2017 will allow to create energy heritage for Astana, Kazakhstan, and all the world. The exhibition will promote the development of innovations in the global energy industry, and will become an important tool for ensuring sustainable development of our country.
We have great expectations of the Kazakhstan's initiative – Partnership program “Green bridge”, supported by the international community at the UN Conference “Rio +20” last year.
The “Green bridge” will allow to solve regional problems of Central Asia, primarily through the introduction of a “green economy” in the region.
We invite all professionals and heads of enterprises to participate in the exhibition and the implementation of effective environmental technologies in the industry.
I wish all the participants, guests, and organisers of the EcoTech 2013 Exhibition a fruitful work and success in achieving their goals!
The Minister of the Environment
